Registration Open for Disability Transition Conference
Boone Center, Inc. (BCI), a nonprofit dedicated to enriching the lives of adults with disabilities through employment opportunities, will host its 2025 Transition Conference on Friday, September 19, at Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in St. Charles.
Centered on the theme “Own Your Journey,” this free, full-day event is designed for individuals with disabilities and their families—as well as educators, counselors, case managers, and funders—who are navigating the complex path toward adult life, work, and independence. The conference will feature expert speakers, valuable resources, and practical breakout sessions designed to help attendees take the next steps with confidence.
Frankie Kietzman, Ed.S., of Shawnee, Kansas, will deliver this year’s keynote address, “Taking Control of Your Story.” A professional behavior consultant and autism advocate, Kietzman will share personal insights and practical strategies to promote independence, self-awareness, and self-advocacy, empowering individuals with disabilities to define their futures.
The conference will also offer two breakout sessions, each with four unique tracks, covering topics such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), housing, guardianship, family navigation services, self-directed social activities, and future planning.
“We’re honored to bring together real-world expertise and meaningful resources to help families and professionals navigate the transition to adulthood,” said BCI CEO Troy Compardo. “This time can be overwhelming, with emotional and financial decisions on top of complex systems. Our goal is to equip people with the tools and confidence to move forward.”
Conference registration is open now through September 11. For details and to register, visit https://boonecenter.com/news-events/transition-conference/.
